The Paradores of Spain offer organic menus

Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries introduce organic food in the hotels through this campaign, involving more than 60 producers.

The Agriculture and Fisheries Ministry of the Andalusian and “Paradores de Turismo” had begun a campaign for organic food in the Community, which also collaborates with the Association of organic products from Andalusia (EPEA). Until next December 17th, the “Parador de Turismo” in Andalucía will offer special menus, consisting only of organic products. In addition to proposals for lunch or dinner, including for child, the menu of the establishments also have organic foods for breakfast, appetizers and snacks.

In total, 16 “Paradores” are involved in this initiative, spread over 8 provinces of Andalusia and located in Antequera, Arcos de la Frontera Ayamonte, Cadiz, Carmona Cazorla, Cordoba, Granada, Jaén, Mazagon Round Málaga (Malaga Golf Parador Malaga and Gibralfaro), Mojacar, Nerja, Ubeda. Also, 60 companies producing organic agriculture are involved launching this new campaign of Andalusia, which in the next two weeks supply of food establishments for the preparation of menus. All organic ingredients are grown and processed without synthetic chemicals and meeting strict quality standards and respect for the environment. The campaign is supported by a promotional gift that will be available in all suites, consisting of an organic extra virgin olive oil.

Under the slogan 'Try something different today', this initiative of Agriculture and Fisheries and “Paradores” aims to bring organic products to consumers, taking advantage of special dates such as the influx of tourists near the bridge. Andalucía, with over half a million hectares, is a national leader in the area of organic agriculture, but the sector still needs strengthening to increase the distribution of consumption levels, which the Administration is developing numerous initiatives. The work of the Andalusian building meets the guidelines of the Andalusian Plan for Organic Agriculture 2002-2006, close to its renewal.

Menus in this campaign offer a broad overview of organic agriculture in Andalusia, with the aim of bringing it closer to the consumer. Thus, “Paradores” offers a sampling of appetizers and two main dishes: steamed sturgeon of lavender in tempura with zucchini and rice with vegetables velvet and Iberian prey taco with seasoned mushrooms and mashed chickpeas. For dessert, crunchy and sweet cream of cereal with milk and quinces. Both the appetizers and main dishes and dessert will be marinated with an organic wine from any denomination Andalusian origin, chosen by a tasting conducted among technical professionals. To “Paradores de Turismo”, this initiative is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility policy, which establishes the need to develop environmentally sustainable strategies, promoting the rich gastronomic and cultural and natural heritage of Andalusia and the country.

The latest agricultural data for each of the province put Huelva in the top organic surface, with more than 111,000 hectares, followed by Cadiz (84,996), Seville (80,345), Córdoba (78,469), Granada (52,366), Jaén (47,302), Málaga (33,233) and Almeria (31,827), totaling about 520,000 ha, more than 6,000 operators and more than 300 industries.

    Great! What a wonderful opportunity, to know that you actually CAN visit a country and still eat organic meals! My husband and I are planning a trip to Spain, but we are very aware that it is difficult to eat healthy when “on the road”, hopefully this will help us find healthy options!
