Is essential for an athlete supplementation along with diet and training. Knowing how to take different supplements, their advantages and disadvantages to make the most of the fat burners, protein, whey, vitamins, energy bars, carbohydrate, triglyceride, oligosaccharides.

Sports supplements are now part of the diet of an athlete, especially to avoid shortages caused by the physical wear and tear of training. These contain concentrated nutrients that also help improve the performance of athletes.

Foods and Supplements

Foods have nutrients, while supplements have them in exact amounts for specific purposes.

Foods also have calories while supplements usually do not include them, plus the supplement always tastes nice and does not need any previous preparation. However, they can never replace traditional nutrition, but complement it.

Sports supplements always have the nutritional information on the label and are ingested instead of large amounts of food to obtain all the nutrients, considering them an ally to improve sports performance and endurance.

A high-performance athlete has higher nutritional requirements than a sedentary person, in addition to lose minerals by intense sweating when exercising.

Another reason to recommend supplements is that most of the processed foods that we consume today contain preservatives and dyes, and their manufacturing processes can be canceled. Then nutritional supplements are an extra supply of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.

Proteins

Proteins are essential for athletes, although sometimes it is thought that they are only used to increase muscle mass as in fitness, bodybuilding and for crossfit. But all the athletes who do training and championships continuously as is the case of sports such as basketball, football, and handball since they act as antioxidants and for the recovery of muscles.

In the case of amateur athletes it is also advisable to use sports supplements with proteins for their muscular regenerative effect.

Other Indications

Before thinking about the Supplement it is necessary to know if you really need them, for which you must make an evaluation, and if it is positive it is good to use the ones that really work.

But other aspects such as exercise, balanced diet and sleep should be considered in addition to food and supplementation. The supplements have different presentations, choose the ones that best suit your sport, and lifestyle.
