Make a wish list to develop faith and trust in yourself

Published: 12/23/2013 - Updated: 02/13/2016

You! Yes, you! Do you feel that you don't deserve all that you want and are looking for in life? We all have at least one desire that we wish would come true, but we also have many suspicions and fears to overcome. Perhaps overcoming these fears is the greatest challenge and biggest reward of all: trusting and believing that we will receive everything we wish for. At present there are many things that we wish for: getting fit and healthy, having a partner, a good fortune … How about an interaction with an extraordinary being?

Dreaming about what we want is a wonderful, creative power that nature gave to man in order to encourage and enthuse him to be living in this material world. Dreaming is free: It costs nothing. What is really hard to believe is that what we dream about can actually come into our lives. Sitting and thinking or imagining what you want is as easy as watching a great movie at the cinema, but then you open your eyes, leave the "room", and come back to reality.

Our reality then often confronts the dream with a long list of obstacles: money, time and negative thoughts such as "it is impossible", etc. The eyes see one thing and the heart desires another, so what can you do? If we had the faith to go beyond seeing all that we feel as a limitation, if our inner eye saw only what we wanted in our lives, and if we took this approach for a sufficient amount of time, everything we dreamed about would become a reality.

Under the grace of nature, you do not need to be something special to receive and appreciate the grandiose, because you are already special as it is. You are special. Just as you are, with everything you've said and lived, you are special and worthy of the best things in life. What is the problem with this? That you do not feel special or worthy of great things and experiences? The sense of being worthy is reduced to very little when you blame, punish, scold yourself or feel "bad" for having done or said something or for not being what others expect you to be, yet in doing that you would not be able to be who you really are.

Everything in life is a lesson which helps us and pushes us to grow and better ourselves. So, if you have done something in your life and you feel bad or guilty about it, it is time to begin loving yourself just as you are and to speak to yourself, in a dignified manner, as if you were talking to the most beautiful thing in the universe: You! Nature loves and accepts everything as it is… Why would not you love yourself the way you are? Why would you not give birth to the greatest thing that's inside you, love for yourself?

Do you know why you have doubts and the things you want seem to never happen? It is likely that you have pursued disbelief. Doubt harasses you because you have not had the patience and time to discover the magnificence within you and have faith that everything you need will be given to you. Doubt fills you with darkness, fear and distrust because you do not love and believe in yourself. You analyse again and again what you see and what others say; You believe in statistics and what is shown on the news and written in newspapers, as well as what you were taught as a child; You think about everything but yourself!

So it is time to start a new day, new year and new life believing in yourself and the first step is to begin accepting yourself as you are. Enter into a loving and friendly dialogue with yourself, to give you time for yourself, to learn who you are, to focus on what you love, to leave behind what you've already learned about, and above all leaving behind the habit of relying on others to be happy. The many activities which occupy our daily lives, the rush, the stress, the worry and judgements should not be an excuse to leave yourself 'til last. Your dreams and your happiness are first of all. So tonight may be the best night of all: pick a star in the sky and ask for whatever you want. Do not believe that the star will give you the gift, but better yet: Imagine the star says: "I believe in you", so you will not forget that within you is the door to your own dreams.

Nice words to share with the daily in the Christmas evening for example, just to recall the importance of believing in ourselves and the magic that we can create if we have hope and try to change our bad attitude, always dream, like a child, this is what keeps us alive in the inside, in the soul.

New year is a very good opportunity to start a new way of living, I mean, not leaving everything behind, but giving chances to the new, the unexperienced, which may bring good or bad things, but in the end are always for a learning process which is the point of the life right?

No more doubt this year, I think I will opt for the positive attitude against everything that surrounds me, even if they are bad things or that can damage me, I will see everything as a good challenge that will spice up my life a little bit instead of attacking it, and that is a good way of seeing the world…

These really are great words, and so true. I was just reading an article about the power and strength of thoughts, and its so true that our thoughts can be so limiting to us. They create the very framework of how we live, and conduct our daily lives. These are good words to live by, and if we think of them every morning that we wake up, I’m sure over time we’ll notice a fundamental paradigm change, into a more peaceful and fulfilled life.
