Cucumber is an edible vegetable that comes from the plant Cucumis sativus, which is part of the Cucurbitaceae family. It is used for various purposes in the kitchen, but also part of several cosmetic products today.

It is used for different purposes, as it can be eaten raw or cooked and is very beneficial for human health. One of the greatest benefits of cucumber is revitalising properties for the skin.

Nutritional content

Cucumber is mostly water: Up to 90% of its volume is water, which is why it is so refreshing.

Other nutrients that it has are vitamin A, B, C and folate. Cucumbers also contain minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, zinc, magnesium, silica and manganese. Furthermore, cucumbers are a rich source of dietary fiber which contributes to good digestion.

One of its virtues is its amount of calories, because even though it provides carbohydrates, it is considered to be very low in calories and thus is a good ally in weight loss diets.

Skin

The high water content, vitamins A, B and C, as well as the minerals, make cucumber an essential ingredient for skin care. Masks containing cucumber juice are useful to use against skin tightening. In addition, you can reduce water retention, as well as decrease inflammation and swelling that occurs around the eyes. Fresh cucumber slices can relieve skin with sunburn.

If you want healthy skin, then do not hesitate to resort to the cucumber. As cucumber and the skin share the same level of hydrogen, it is easy to begin reaping its many benefits quickly. Its properties also help to soothe and soften skin.

This vegetable has become part of many beauty products, face masks, facials, nutritious juices and other products that can help you improve the look of your skin.

Also, being refreshing, it is excellent for cleaning the skin, giving it softness and flexibility. To enjoy these cosmetic benefits, it can be used both internally and externally.

Mask with cucumber to hydrate and refresh your skin

Ingredients

  • 4 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 cucumber with the skin removed
  • 1 egg

Preparation

  1. Make a puree with the cucumber and mint leaves.
  2. Beat one egg separately and add to the mash until homogeneous.
  3. Apply the resulting mixture evenly over the face, leave on for 20 minutes, then rinse with warm water and dry well.

Eyes

Applying a couple of slices of cucumber can help fade bags around the eyes that appear after a bad night, a long day or inadequate sleep. When doing this, remember to relax and leave them on for 10 to 15 minutes.

Hair

Cucumber juice contains silica, which, when added to carrot juice, spinach and lettuce, promotes hair growth. Silica is also present in the connective tissues of the body. A diet that includes vegetable silica fosters good hair and bones. We recommend eating cucumber regularly or adding it to your diet in the form of salads.

Nails

Eating cucumber also helps your nails. By including it in your diet, you can prevent your nails from cracking or breaking due to its silica content.

NOTE: The cucumber can be eaten with the skin, especially when tender, as it contains many hidden properties.
