The legend of "tiger grass"

Let’s take a parenthesis to recall the legend that, in addition to its great poem, reveals the extraordinary properties of Centella asiatica.

There was once, in a small village in Laos, bordering the Mekong River, two young men who loved tenderly. She was the beautiful Yun-li, was sixteen years and was the only daughter of the village headman, a rich landlord who owned almost all the rice paddies. The man was a woodsman, who spent his life in the heart of the forest.

Yun-li's father was filled with anger since her daughter announced he wanted to marry one who was a disaster. Mad with rage, he took his assegai and was launched in search of the young man. He found him in the square, swooped on him and made a huge cut in the belly.

Save yourself, woodsman – he cried – and take care not of not staying in my way, because if you do you will die, and remember this. My daughter will never be yours!

After challenging the added:

Anyway I will give an opportunity: if tomorrow the wound you've made in the abdomen is scarred, is that you are more powerful than me and you have the right to demand the hand of Yun-li.

The young woodcutter fled pursued by the taunts of the peasants. He took refuge in his bamboo hut, suffering more for those who have lost loved that the deep wound, the width of a hand that was in the womb.

But he knew the secrets of the forest better than anyone. Very often he saw as the Tigers had their wounds on a roll of carpet plants. He saw them as a fierce one night was enough to heal their wounds and return to close the skin torn off, the result was to baptize these plants as "tiger grass".

Decided to try this remedy on himself, as the challenge of his beloved father still sounded in his head like a bell saying: "If tomorrow you've healed, you can marry Yun-li." All night, he went to apply Tiger grass. The next morning, with the first rays of the sun, instead of the wound was only a scar of a pinkish hue like the dawn.

Woodcutter went into the village and there in the middle of the plaza in front of the stunned residents, showed that his wound was now healed. The Yun-li's father, had to fulfill his promise to his daughter and give the prize as he proved being more powerful than him.

Lovers were very happy and the woodcutter became very rich and very dear to the wounded selling "tiger grass”, which was his happiness.
