Organic agriculture is a priority in the national rural development plan
The general director of Food, Almudena Rodríguez, said that organic agriculture is a priority within the national rural development plan, although it will be Autonomies which establish their own lines according to their needs.
Rodriguez, who attended last Friday in Madrid to the opening of the XXII edition of Biocultura, noted that those were the Autonomous Communities that have decided that these aids are no longer horizontal (one line performance for the whole state).
Public autonomic bodies of control and certification of organic preferred to have maintained the horizontal, for fear that they could identify differences between regions, and others.
President of Intereco, Emilio Rodríguez, told EFEAGRO that Autonomous Governments, as the closer bodies, know what culture or what lines of farming and finance are appreciated, the Ministry of Agriculture continued financing support to organic agriculture for the period 2007-2013.
Rodriguez, who met in Madrid on Friday with representatives of interest-entity that brings together 13 tips organic-autonomous, said that the financing can be around 50 percent, depending on the case or whether or not the region.
He noted that to support the demands of the productive sector of agriculture, the Ministry of Autonomies exposed the need for aid remaining horizontal, but a majority decided that it would be easier to apply if the aid is managed by themselves.
Rodriguez, who attended the inauguration of the next Bioculture, Environment Minister, Cristina Narbona, recalled that the November 13th the holder of Agriculture, Elena Espinosa presents the campaign to spread organic agriculture in the national market.
"Campaign that we are demanding for years" stressed Rico, but was glad to finally be put in place because the domestic market for organic products is barely developed, since almost all production is exported.
Here Rodriguez said that although 70 percent of consumers say knowing about organic food awareness, 80 percent cannot identify them by their logo.
Therefore it is necessary that the information and training on this method of production respects the environment that uses no synthetic chemical products.
