The new Bio-Regulation of EU continues to protect the force concept “bio”.

However, some rules are changing details, such as in the case of imports into the EU. It introduces the process of recognition of supervisory authorities or agencies abroad.

Other changing from 1-1-2009 are:

Regulation does not include the areas of restoration, but it will allow a national regulation.

Label is deleted from the current category for products with a 70% organically produced ingredients.

It is planned with a mandatory labeling of the EU eco-label for all organic food produced and packaged in the EU. There will be a redesign of the common logo.

There definitely need to be strict standards in place that standardize the way that organic food is regulated and reviewed. Here in the united states , saying that something is “organic” a product has to go through a certain process to identify and qualify it as such, although a lot of products try to mimic that by saying “all natural”
