Natural Remedies to eliminate bags under your eyes

Bags under your eyes can make your eyes look tired and sickly.  They are dark discolorations that form under the eye, primarily caused by heredity, gaining, stress, and lack of sleep.

Even though this generally is not a serious condition, a lot of times people do want to get rid of them.  Fortunately, just a few simple natural remedies could be the solution.

Causes of bags under eyes

Several factors could cause bags under the eyes, aging and lack of sleep are generally the primary causes, however, stress, genetics, working for long hours in front of the computer, dry skin, or the use of certain medications could also play a part in this.

Other causes could be sun exposure and skin conditions like atopic dermatitis.

Natural Remedies against bags under eyes

This series of home ingredients could be useful for eliminating bags under your eyes:

Almond oil: rich in vitamin E, making it not only effective at eliminating bags under your eyes, but it also improves the look of skin around the eyes.  It is recommendable to apply a few drop gently to the area under the eye at night without touching your eyelashes or getting it too close to the eye.  Allow to set all night and wash the following morning with cold water.  Repeat until the bags disappear.

Potatoes: they are an excellent remedy for bags under eyes as they help reduce inflammation around the eyes.  Cut a few slices of potatoes and apply them to closed eyes.  Let set for 10 minutes.  Remove and rinse with warm water, dry by lightly touching the area with a clean towel.  Repeat if necessary for several days.

Cucumber: this is a classic remedy against bags under eyes due to its astringent properties.  They also help to refresh the eye.  Cut a few slices of cold cucumber and apply them to closed eyes for 10 minutes.  Then, wash the area with warm water and repeat the process for one week.

Rose water: it is refreshing and also helps to calm tired eyes and to tone the skin.  To use rose water, moisten a few cotton balls in rose water and apply them to closed eyes, letting set for 10 to 15 minutes.  Repeat for one week.

Cold application: one common and quick remedy is to apply cold.  This consists of leaving a spoon in the fridge for a few minutes until it cools.  Then, after some time, take the spoon out and place it over the bags until the spoon turns skin temperature.  Remove.  This is a quick remedy but is not advisable for daily use.

Apply avocado: avocado is a source of healthy fats.  Applying two avocado slices under closed eyes could help treat bags under your eyes.

Tomato: tomatoes help to whiten skin, making them perfect for removing bags.  To use tomatoes, just blend one for a bit, until obtaining one tablespoon of puree and add a few drops of lemon juice to it.  Apply to your skin with closed eyes, and allow to take effect for 10 minutes.  Rinse with warm water.  Repeat twice a day until the bags are gone.

Coconut oil: this oil helps keep skin moisturized and alleviates bags under the eyes.  It can also prevent wrinkles.  Apply gently to the skin under your eyes ate night, by using you pinky.  Do not get it in your eye.  Allow to soak in and then rinse your face in the morning.

Tea bags: the antioxidants and caffeine in tea are excellent for calming eyes and removing bags under them.  They reduce inflammation and water retention.  Use moist and cooled chamomile tea bags.  You could submerge them in cool water, or even store them in the fridge so they can cool.  Place them over closed eyes and allow to go to work for 10 to 15 minutes.  Remove and repeat twice a day for a few weeks.

Vitamin E oil: Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps moisturize skin and improve its appearance.  You can directly benefit from it by using one capsule and applying it at night to the area under your eyes.  Let it set over night, and in the morning, wash your face.  Repeat this process once a day.

Mint: Mint can refresh not only drinks, but tired eyes and bags under your eyes as well.  Apply with hyssop to the area you want to treat, and allow to dry.  Keep it from entering your eyes, and rinse with warm water after 10 minutes.  Repeat twice a day for one week in order to see results.

I’ve thought about applying cold to my eyes before (because I have heard before that they help with bags), but I have never thought of using a cold spoon!! much better than an ice cube!
