Dietary

There are many circumstances in life in which our regular diet needs the contribution of dietary supplements, it is important to know what they are, and what functions they fulfill in our organism, to guarantee our wellbeing and health. Dietary and nutritional supplements and supplements help you supplement your diet with everything you need to be healthy.

Most of us at some point in our life have needed one or more dietary supplements. These include vitamins, minerals, medicinal herbs, amino acids, enzymes and other elements. In the market there is a wide variety of forms such as pills, capsules, beverages and even as energy bars. Among the most used are those that contain vitamins and minerals.

The need of dietary supplements

When we do not receive the amount of nutrients we need daily through food, dietary supplements can help to cover the minimum amounts of nutrients required, but they can not replace a varied and balanced diet. Calcium and vitamin D are important for maintaining strong bones and reducing bone loss, just as omega-3 fatty acids can benefit cardiac function. On the other hand they should be consumed only in case of deficiencies, special needs such as pregnancy and lactation, or when you are a high performance athlete. Some of these dietary supplements may interact with certain medications.

Keep in mind that some ingredients of dietary supplements are present in a growing number of foods that we consume daily, and we do not necessarily talk about fruits and vegetables but about cereals, flour and fortified products, dairy products, juices, etc.

How to take dietary supplements

The use of these products is very delicate, apart from multivitamins should not be consumed without a specific lack, and should always know the quality, purity, concentration and composition of these products, so we can ensure its effectiveness and most importantly , our health. Another important aspect is to carefully read the instructions for these products and consume only the recommended doses.
