It addresses all phases beginning with soil preparation, planting, fertilization and fertile green vines, pruning, and also including the regulation of pests and diseases. It has been published by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. In producing it has been supported by the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture and the Union of Farmers and Ranchers of Valencia.
As part of the collection "Hojas Divulgadoras”, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has published a manual on organic growing of grapes, which has been developed with the support of the Spanish Society of Organic Agriculture and the Union of Farmers and Ranchers of Valencia.
This publication explains step by step all the field work necessary for the production of organic table grapes, starting with the choice of variety according to factors such as climate, altitude and production goals and market, as well as techniques for grafting, the usual practice in viticulture.
Also it devotes a chapter to the operations for preparing the ground because, as explained in this paragraph, a living soil is the basis of organic agriculture, explaining some techniques such as solarization or the subscriber fund, to address and then planting systems to obtain organic grapes.
Also it includes recommendations on pruning in the case of old vines or vineyards or land of low fertility, describing various techniques for organic fertilizer and the vine branches like Sarmento and composting, and mineral inputs, focusing on the benefits of green manures and cover.
Another of the chapters of this book is devoted to the regulation of pests and diseases, giving the most common such as phylloxera, the insect of the bunch, the green mosquito avariosis or between pests and powdery mildew, mildew or rotting gray between the disease, detailing the recommended treatments for each.
The publication concludes with a section dedicated to the production and marketing costs, which, for orientation, we examine the distribution of costs in the production of organic table grapes, and yields can reach.
