What is organic agriculture?

The organic agriculture, also known as biological agriculture, is a way to nurture and care for the land and raise livestock in a manner respectful of nature, without using toxic chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, etc. .) seed genetically modified (so-called transgenic or GMO), without forcing the cycles of fertility or feeding. Its purpose is to get healthy food for all, in point of maturity, with all the flavor, aroma, texture, with all the vitality and all the benefits of healthy foods.

How can we identify a food organic?

All packaged products obtained according to the rules of organic agriculture lead indicated on its label: "Organic Agriculture" (in Castilian or in any language of the European Union) and a logo or seal indicates the authority or control body that certifies that this is so. If the product is produced or packaged in the EU, it can have the European Biological and Organic Agriculture logo.

If the product is fresh and is not filling (fruit, vegetables) should make sure that the producer is registered with a body and has a certificate of organic agriculture and control of its production.

What control is on organic agriculture?

The organic crop and livestock production is regulated by European legislation (EC Regulation 2092/91) which sets standards for production, labeling and how to control these products from the farm to the consumer.

Control can make public or private entities recognized as such in all Member States of the European Union.

What is the council of Organic Agriculture?

The Council of Organic Agriculture in the Region of Murcia (fall) is a public group which began operating in 2000 as responsible for the control system of organic agriculture in our region. In December 2003 the Council obtained legal personality, set out as a corporation under public law with full financial autonomy and capacity to act for the exercise of their functions.

Its field of action is the Autonomous Community of Murcia.

Functions of the Organic Agriculture council

  • Implementing, within the scope of their powers, the Control System established by EEC Regulation 2092/91.
  • Disseminating knowledge and application of systems of production.
  • Developing guidelines and proposals for action on agriculture, livestock production and processing.
  • Ruling on conformity or nonconformity with the system of supervision of organic products.
  • Ensuring the proper use of evidence of identification.

Records of the Council

The Council of organic agriculture in the Region of Murcia has three records of operators (producers, processing industries and / or packaging and importers).

For information about how to register please contact us or you can consult the information contained in the legislation section of this website and / or download the forms that exist in the forms section.

When the file, along with the necessary documentation is received by the Council is the visit by a technician, a record and then makes a report, which is evaluated by the Qualifications Committee is favorable and if a certificate is issued by the Certification Committee.

    Most of the people should read this guideline to really understand the meaning of the organic production, agriculture and more, this is very good for the whole system and the consumer which needs better quality instead of quantity, so I will share this article with all the people I know

    There needs to be some sort of transparency in organic food production, because even though something is classified as organic, doesn’t mean it is absolutley chemical-free. The only way really to achieve this is to grow from your own home garden. Organic farms still use sprays, they’re just considered “organic”
