The Environment includes the natural environment in which life develops and all our activities. Human beings on our part need some basic things such as decent housing, adequate food, education, health, work, personal development, rest and moments of recreation, all within a healthy and decontaminated environment. Environmental protection has therefore become a priority for governments in most countries of the world.
Taking care of the enviroment
It is necessary that the world development process contemplates the vital elements of the human environment, but taking advantage of natural resources without causing damage to nature, since these are often irreparable, especially when looking only at economic progress without respect for the Environment , the opposite is sustainable development, whose purpose is to satisfy present and future needs, with policies to eliminate poverty, without exhausting non-renewable natural resources, developing recycling mechanisms and renewable energies. A fundamental aspect is also the reforestation and the control of emissions. When the human population grows, it encompasses the natural spaces that belonged to other animal and plant species, reaching in many cases the extermination of these species due to the lack of their natural habitat.
The World Summits
At the beginning of the 1990s, concern for the environment gained greater force and international meetings were established, such as the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED), held in 1992, where the declaration of the basic principles of the environment, social aspects and equity.
In addition to all the above mentioned are fundamental aspects of environmental care:
- The protection of soils, forests and reforestation.
- The issue of air pollution and climate change. Control and reduction of emissions.
- Caring for the oceans, seas and coastal areas, avoiding excessive fishing and using methods
- Biodiversity care, scientific investigation of flora and fauna and conservation of protected areas.
- Adequate use of natural and water resources, avoiding desertification.
- Urban and rural environment planning, rights and equity.
