With the backing of the University of Medellin, will be held at the Center for Conventions Ditaires Itagui of the city, Antioquia, VIII International Agroecology and Permaculture course, from 3rd to November 15rh, first and second in Antioquia in Colombia is that it will be attended of teachers Sebastiao Pinheiro (Brazil), Eugenio Gras (from Mexico) and Jairo Restrepo (Colombia).

This is an educational initiative of a group of environmental engineers, agronomists, technical, environmental organizations and organic farmers concerned about the precarious conditions of peasant farmers in Colombia, and its production models unfriendly to the environment. Also at the lack of campaigns to educate consumers about food production and consumption and its harmful effects on human health and environmental degradation, the use of petroleum inputs such as fertilizers and agrochemicals.

Why in Antioquia?

The need to strengthen the ancestral knowledge of farmers as to the processes of academic research in terms of improved food processes, generating capacity in the technicians and farmers to replicate the knowledge in their communities, and create joints with consumers leading to a better relationship with the city field.

Given that the modern diet lacks minerals to maintain health, today's crop as sun and soil is not the same as before. Foods rich in minerals such as selenium and chromium from soil with low-cost, ensure the health and life energy of food, thus a more healthy society physically and mentally, is precisely the theme of "remineralization of the soil, initially for food sovereignty”

I actually went ot a permaculture seminar when I lived in Oregon, adn it was absolutely wonderful. Very life changing in the way we view food, food production, eating, and generally good health. This is a wonderful philosphy by which to live.
