Tips for a Healthy Environment

We often wonder how we can help the environment, but we do not know how to do it. So, here are a series of practical and simple tips to start an eco-friendly life without complicating us too much. Through these tips, we can contribute to improve the environment and our quality of life. Remember that each small contribution makes a difference in long term.

Let's use the power wisely

It is very common to leave the phone charger or other equipment plugged in if we are not using, but we can help the environment by avoiding this kind of carelessness that makes waste energy unnecessarily. It is also important to turn off the computer when we are not using it, as well as television and other electronics. Another good tip is to choose energy-saving lamps instead of the ‘common’; they spend less, last longer and give much light.

Avoid unnecessary expenses

Every time we print an email that we do not really need or use plastic bags and then throw them away, we are creating unnecessary waste. Prefer recyclable bags instead of plastic ones; avoid printing something to just throw it away. It is also better to have a cup or thermos instead of using plastic cups that then we'll throw. Another tip: pay bills online if there is a possibility, it is much faster, we will gain time and not have to be carrying the pay papers. On the other hand, is very important to not abuse the summer air conditioning, a temperature of between 20 and 25 degrees is enough to keep us cool. The same for the winter, don’t let the heat turn on all the time.

Choose natural light

Increasingly, public spaces seek to exploit sunlight instead of artificial light to spend during the day. Let's take this practice into our homes, keep the blinds open, work with natural light as much as possible. You will not only save on expenses, but also feel more relaxed.

Take care of the water

This is a resource increasingly scarce and therefore it is important to use only the needed. Do not leave the tap running, try to make your showers brief and wash your dishes with minimum water possible. Fix leaks as they can reach 48 liters of water wasted per day.

Feed yourself in a healthy and ecologically way

Seek local and natural products that we know did not go through an industrial process. Thus, we are not only attending to our health, but also we benefit small farmers. Today the demand for natural products is becoming larger and supply is growing, take advantage of the opportunity. You will be amazed by the difference.

Planting

A nice way to brighten our homes and even our work environment is putting a flower or plant. They renew our oxygen and rejoice our sight.

Stay informed

Learn and disclose the information you have. Update yourself in ecological safety topics. Today we have many organizations dedicated to caring for the environment, all of them ready to give all the necessary information. Do not fall into indifference. The earth belongs to everyone and together we can make a difference and have a better space.

I?m really interested in the topics that have to do with the care of the environment. The years are passing and people don?t realize the bad things they do to earth while consuming a lot of products and throwing waste, energy and more. The most important thing is to get informed just like the article says, and to start by making changes in ourselves.

Yes!! great article!! Along with this we’re starting to see a lot more people “living small” which is a GREAT example of doing what you can to ease our impact on the Earth. As population inevitably rises, we have to become more aware of our consumption – material, energetic, you name it. If not…I guess we self-destruct then?
