The 2011 edition of the competition of organic wine from Estella hopes to increase participation over the last edition.
The VII National Contest of Wines made with grapes from organic agriculture Estella-Lizarra City Hiria opens its entries until March 11.
The meeting will feature a panel of tasters from around the country
It is expected a broad representation of the Spanish organic wines and exceed the number of participants from the last edition
The VII National Contest of Ecological Wines Lizarra Estella has opened its registration until 11th of March. The event, organized by the city of Estella-Lizarra, the Government of Navarra, Evena (Viticulture and Enology Station of Navarra), and CPAEN (Council of Ecological Agricultural Production Navarra), expects to increase the presence of Spanish organic wines producers that the last year.
The contest, which will take place on 24 and 25 March, wants to have a projection on the entire national territory and therefore, it has a panel of tasters from around the country. The meeting, an important appointment for organic wine in Spain, hopes to have a broader lineup of Appellations of Origin and regions. Last year, it featured wines from Catalonia, Alicante, Guipuzcoa, Alicante, Albacete, Navarra, Cordoba, La Rioja, Malaga and Zamora, and prizes were awarded to wines Catalans, La Rioja, Navarre, Albacete and Alicante, among others.

The Competition of Estella has advanced the dates (the previous edition was held in October 2010) to join in actions at the Second Five, International Organic Wine Fair to be held in April in Pamplona, where they will have the awards ceremony.

I think that wines are delicious and they help the body even though they have alcohol, since they contain some antioxidants which are good for the body and the normal balance, I hope to assist a contest like this one a try different types or wines, I really like red wine.

What exactly do you do to have to be able to enter the wine competition? Do you have to have a winemaking business, or could you just home brew some wine and enter? My soon-to-be mother-in-law and I have picked fresh raspberries and blueberries to make wine this summer…I wonder if we could enter it!
