The strategic importance of the project and the possible impact of the action are among the criteria considered for the allocation of grants.

Ecological agriculture and livestock will benefit from aid amounting to almost € 900,000 to promote the Andalusian sector, with the aim of increasing consumption of food from these crops and short distribution channels for distribution. This is explained by the director of Organic Agriculture, Manuel Gonzalez de Molina, after the surrender of Granada in the relevant resolutions of the 29 entities receiving.

Aid regulated in order of May 24, 2006, is addressed to local public entities and nonprofit organizations whose purpose is related to organic agriculture. The strategic importance of the project in the sector and the possible impact of the action are some objective criteria by which the Board has been guided for the granting of subsidies. Another aspect that has scored particularly in the selection has been the application of cross-gender in the project.

A call for aid, including the Ecological agriculture plan 2002-2006, was presented over a hundred applications with a wide range of initiatives, including education in sector development, development of local organic markets; awareness campaigns and boosting consumption of these products, development of specialized websites, launching pilot certification or implementation of social organic menus in hotels, among other alternatives.

A high growth sector

The latest data on Andalusian agriculture for each of the province of Huelva is in the top surface organic, with more than 111,000 hectares, followed by Cadiz (84,996), Seville (80,345), Córdoba (78,469), Granada (52,366), Jaén (47,302), Málaga (33,233) and Almeria (31,827), totaling about 520,000 hectares, more than 6,000 operators and more than 300 industries.

The Board renew next year the Plan to continue the line of promotion and development of agricultural crops free of pollutants, which are all quality assurance and environmental requirements in its development process and transformation.

Organic agriculture is abosolutely amazing, and it really is the key to us changing a lot of the health conditions that are plaguing our people right now (cancer, liver and kidney disease). A healthy diet is the basis of health in general, so let’s go organic!
