At the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the EU, a proposal for general guidance in relation to changing the current rules governing organic agriculture was reached yesterday. Spain, which has supported this proposal, believes to improve some aspects of it throughout the next half of 2007.

Spain has included preserved fish the main part of the label with the words used in organic agriculture. This agreement will give added value to the Spanish canned fish.

Also, within this general direction has been established mandatory EU logo, which will allow for clear identification for the consumer of products from organic agriculture. This logo must be accompanied by an indication of the origin of the product where it is specified whether or not the European Union.

Furthermore, the Council of Agriculture Ministers of the EU adopted the Regulation governing imports of organic products from third countries. This approval will extend the current import regime ended December 31st of this year.

Good options to reach a better way of producing and consuming food, we need more initiatives that brings together ways of improving the system that we will in, this is good not inly for the people who consume better products but for the people that produce them, so it is a winning for real!

Thats really cool that Spain is really taking a look at how they want to approach the entire issue of organic agricultre. I have always felt that the best way to be effective at anything is to establish a plan, with rules in place to guide you. Fantastic news for Spain
