What to do?

1. Cosmetics:

To try to improve and solve the problem, it is vital to improve our daily habits, but you can use specific cosmetic products applied locally to mitigate the nuisance and bring lightness and welfare to the legs. Substances such as flavonoids, or ivy extract often part of creams, gels or emulsions shown to improve venous insufficiency.

2. Phytotherapeutic Preparations

These are tablets made from plant extracts which can be show a marked improvement after 1 months of treatment, minimum.

Among the most common and effective are the "Vitis vinifera” (red grape leaf) and the" horse-chestnuts."

The first serves to strengthen the walls of the veins and helps the circulation, as well as recent studies involved it in a decrease in the volume of the leg. The second has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Other supplements based on vitamins C and E are very beneficial in preventing future venous disorders and relieve symptoms.

It is of utmost importance to ensure an adequate consumption of fiber and reduce consumption of salt, consumed in excess encourages fluid retention.

The consumption of herbal teas such as draining and diuretic nettle green, Rusco, ponytail, or mallow fennel may be very beneficial.

4. Move on!

Regular physical activity is essential to improve circulation and remove excess fluid accumulated in the legs.

Walk at least 20 minutes daily or if you prefer opt for a sporting activity.

Swimming, water gymnastics and cycling are very marked.

Few tips…

  1. Avoid very hot baths.
  2. End bath directing the jet of cold water into the legs from the bottom up to activate the movement.
  3. Avoid staying long hours standing or sitting.
  4. Avoid crossing your legs, this is a very feminine gesture but prevents proper circulation.
  5. Do not wear tight clothes. Pants and shoes if compressed too much, worsen blood circulation and promote the swelling of the lower extremities.
  6. In winter half of "compression" will help reduce edema.
  7. Place a pillow at the foot of the bed and sleep with your legs slightly elevated.

The best thing that I have found for my legs is undoubtedly cycling. Cycling is such a great workout for the legs, it helped me lose a bunch of weight (without even trying), it toned my legs, and even helped improve circulation so much that it got rid of my spider veins!
