McDonald's is closing its branch in a city that is famous for the high quality of their food and healthy eating. The local chain in Tavistock, Devon, was not sufficiently popular with the locals. After seven years fighting for their survival in a city with numerous awards for their awareness on issues of quality and food, the McDonald's restaurant was closed in early December.
Chairman of the Tavistock EatWise campaign, John Taylor, told the Daily Mail newspaper: "McDonald's could not stand the competition due to the high level of our local cuisine." Earlier this year, Tavistock received the title "Best Food Town in the South West."
Meanwhile, consumers have benefited from their menus in the green midday "Robertson's Organic Coffee”.
