Practical course of phytotherapy

Center of Environmental Education Corazón Verde, during February, March, April and May will have a phytotherapy practice course. The fundamental objective of this course is to learn about natural alternatives for treating disease, both preventive and palliative. Other important goals to consider in this course are: to learn to make products with natural plants, learn to measure correctly and prescribe the use of plants and learn concepts of botany, to know the Latin name of plants of medicinal use more frequent and learn to identify them in the wild, at least the most common.

Dates: Tuesdays from February 7 to May 9 (except April 25 and 18) (18 to 21 hs.)
Duration: 36 hours
Maximum number of seats of the course is: 10
Price: 360 €.

General content of the course

1. What is herbal medicine? Past, present and future.
2. Het to know the medicinal properties of plants.
3. Botanical medicine: botanical classification of the families at the most important botanical medicine.
4. Active principles of plants and their effect on the body.
5. Production of natural plant products: creams, lotions, ointment, poultice, dentifrices.
6. Treatments or products complementary to the use of plants: pollen, royal jelly, supplements, alternative therapies, feeding patterns and so on ... These treatments will be known in each class and suited to treating the ailments.

1. Own presentation and the participants.
2. History of the uses of plants as medicine.
3. What is herbal medicine? What is a medicinal plant?
4. Active substances produced by plants and their effect on the body.
5. Useful parts of plants or drugs.
6. Slideshow.

Tuesday February 14th 2006

1. Introduction to medicinal botany.
2. Classification of plants.
3. Nomenclature: Scientific names and common or popular names of plants.
4. Path through the Eco-Garden of medicinal plant species identification.

Tuesday February 21st 2006

1. How can we extract and active principles of plants?

  • Methods of preparation.
  • Forms of employment.
  • Dosing.

2. How to make a tisane? How to prepare an extract? How are essential oils extracted?.

Tuesday February 28th 2006

1. The respiratory and throat, nose and ears.

  • General operation.
  • Most common diseases or problems: asthma, bronchitis, cough, pneumonia, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, otitis, rhinitis, sinusitis, epistaxis
  • Medicinal plants for effective treatment.

2. Internship: slide preparation and syrups.

1. The digestive system.

  • Parts and overall functioning.
  • Most common ailments and diseases: lack of apatite, halitosis, heartburn, stomach, gas, dyspepsia, stomach ulcers, liver dysfunction, hepatitis, disorders of the gallbladder (stones)
  • Plants for effective treatment.

2. Internship: slides, preparation of infusions and decoctions.

Tuesday March 14th 2006

1. Cardiovascular system.

  • Parts and their operation
  • Problems and functional diseases: hypertension, hypotension, arteriosclerosis, loss of blood, cholesterol, phlebitis, varicose veins, varicose ulcer, anemia, bleeding, hematomas, thrombosis, arrhythmia, palpitations, tachycardia etc.
  • Plants acting on the heart, arteries, veins and blood.

2. Practices: a slide show, making a depurative aloe.

1. Nervous system

  • Parts and their operation.
  • Diseases and problems: fatigue, asthenia, anxiety, depression, insomnia, nervousness, headaches, neuralgia, loss of memory, psychosomatic illness, poor intellectual performance. Rheumatism, arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, sciatica, sprains, rheumatic pain, lumbago, arthritis, etc.
  • Effective for treatment with plants.

2. Internship: slides, preparation of ointments and tonics for external friction.

1. Urinary tract and male and female genital tract.

  • Parts and operation.
  • Diseases, disorders and diseases: urinary calculi, renal colic, edema, cystitis, urinary tract infection, nephritis, nephrosis, urethritis, enuresis, prostatitis, menopause.
  • Plants for effective treatment.

2. Slideshow and application of treatments.

  • Problems and most common diseases: food poisoning, lower fenders, febrile illness, convalescence, influenza, AIDS, uric acid, gout, malnutrition, thinness, obesity, diabetes, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism.
  • Medicinal plants and treatment.

2. Cleansing treatments.

1. Plants for skin, nails and hair.

  • Problems and most common diseases: acne, wounds and ulcers, calluses, warts, yelling into the skin, itching skin, eczema, psoriasis, cellulite, excessive sweating, dry skin, stretch marks on the skin, brittle nails, hair loss, dandruff, boils and abscesses, fungal infection of the skin, herpes, vitiligo.
  • Medicinal plants and treatment.

2. Internship: slideshow, manufacturing ointments or creams.

Tuesday May 2nd 2006

1. Monograph on Aloe.

  • Story on the use and discovery of the active ingredients of the plant.
  • Composition, active ingredients and their effects on the body.
  • Ways to use aloe.
  • Preparation of creams, tonics for hair, toothpaste and aftershave lotions.

Tuesday May 9th 2006

1. Toxicity of medicinal plants.
2. Incompatibilities.
3. Slideshow.
4. Final evaluation of the course and delivery of Diplomas.

It is not difficult to find courses you can follow if you want or are interested in learning more about the topic of the nature medicine, and for that I refer to the medical plants which can serve us so much and people do not even have an idea od this!
