The "binging" food is the cause of 40% of cases of obesity in Spain, as stressed by a study by the Center for Prevention and Treatment of Anorexia and Bulimia (ABB). This eating disorder manifests itself mainly in adult women with emotional instability, aspects of insecurity and low self-esteem.

The study explains that the profile of a person suffering from this phenomenon is often adapted to the "compulsive meal," which is usually a feeling of loss of control with food, either because eaten in excessive amounts or because "stings" of course unintentionally.

Who exhibit this behavior tends to have trouble controlling anxiety. Patients who exhibit this behavior tend to emphasize the difficulty to control the anxiety. In most cases, the result of disorder involves obesity or overweight.

Binging disorder

At present, according to specialists, the disorder has power greater incidence, and according to various studies, affects up to 50% of people in treatment for thinning. In medical terms, "binging" has been defined as "food abuse" or "too lenient and out of control” in relation to food. According to the foundation ABB, in Spain, 2% of the population suffers from anorexia, 4% bulimia and 5% of “binging” disorder.

The Center for Prevention of Anorexia and Bulimia said that the treatment of eating disorder not only overcomes a health problem, but it involves a great improvement in quality of life of people treated, and once recovered "increase their self-esteem, are more socialized in many ways and start a new life."

In addition, according to a survey by the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU), which examines the eating habits and their relationship to physical activity and weight, more than half of Spaniards have an unbalanced diet and do not exercise.

This survey, conducted in 3986 Canadian adults between 18 and 74 years and adolescents aged between 13 and 17 years, reveals that 54% do not follow a balanced diet.
