Today there are an endless list of products designed to wash your hair, and yet, just by using household ingredients, you can make your own fantastic mixtures for hair care and hygiene.

There are a lot of traditional recipes from home, but it is important that you learn the characteristics of each one to provide the best care for your hair.

Contents

  • 1. Sodium Bicarbonate Shampoo
  • 2. Homemade shampoo for dry hair
  • 3. Lemon and cucumber shampoo
  • 4. Cornstarch shampoo
  • 5. Lemon and aloe vera shampoo
  • 6. Apple cider vinegar shampoo
  • 7. Avocado shampoo
  • 8. Rosemary shampoo to strengthen hair

1. Sodium Bicarbonate Shampoo

If you want to free yourself from the sensation of excess scalp oil and filth, washing your hair with sodium bicarbonate could be a simple way to help you.  All you need to do is mix one tablespoon of sodium bicarbonate with water, and then use this solution to wash your hair, massaging your scalp.  You’ll notice that it helps eliminate filth, keeping your hair cleaner.

2. Homemade shampoo for dry hair

Coconut is an excellent ingredient to nourish your hair.  In fact, it can be so useful that you might not even need to use conditioner after washing your hair with this recipe.

Ingredients

  • ¼ c. coconut milk
  • 1 Tbsp. almond oil
  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1/3 c. organic shampoo base

Directions

In an empty bottle, add the ingredients, mixing well.  Set aside and shake every time you use it.

3. Lemon and cucumber shampoo

This shampoo works for washing your hair and also improves scalp moisture.  To make it, cut one cucumber and process it with the juice from one lemon until creating a paste.  Use this mixture for normal hair washing, and rinse well.

4. Cornstarch shampoo

If you’ve ever used a dry shampoo, this secret will save you some money.  Cornstarch is just as effective as dry shampoo for cleaning your hair, but it is much less expensive.  Apply it to the roots and gently rub it in before brushing your hair.  You’ll notice the difference immediately.

You could also use a normal shampoo, by adding cornstarch to one cup of water and use the mixture when you get ready to take a shower.

5. Lemon and aloe vera shampoo

Aloe vera is an excellent ingredient for skin health.  It helps regenerate skin and makes hair once again shiny and soft.  It is also frequently used to fight hair loss and weakness, which is why this recipe could be useful if you want to prevent hair loss or weakness.

In a pot with water, place one and a half cups of aloe vera and boil for 15 minutes.  Try to cover the pot.  Then grate one bar of neutral soap into one liter of warm water, store in a bottle while waiting for the aloe to cool.  Once it is cold, strain and add the contents of the soap bottle.  Shake until all ingredients are mixed.  Add a few drops of lemon juice for a final touch.

6. Apple cider vinegar shampoo

Apple cider vinegar helps to improve the way hair looks, with a very simple recipe.

Make a rinse with one whole egg, two tablespoons of fresh lemon juice, one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar and 30 mL of olive oil.  Mix well and use the mixture to wash your hair.  Let set for a few minutes and then rinse with warm water.  We recommend using two or three times a week to nourish and clean your hair.

7. Avocado shampoo

This recipe is perfect for nourishing your hair and making it silky once again.  It also helps fight oily roots, without drying out your scalp like so many other products.

Ingredients

  • The meat from one ripe avocado
  • 2 tsp. sodium bicarbonate
  • ¼ c. distilled water

Heat a bit of the distilled water and add the avocado.  Mix well.  You could use a fork or spoon, and then add the bicarbonate.  Mix well.  Apply from the roots to the tips, and let set for a few minutes.  Rinse well.

8. Rosemary shampoo to strengthen hair

Rosemary helps strengthen hair by stimulating blood circulation to the scalp.  To prepare this rosemary shampoo, use 3 ounces of organic neutral shampoo.  Add 10 drops of rosemary essential oil and the juice from one fresh lemon.  Shake well.  Wash your hair with this shampoo, massaging your scalp and letting it set for 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water.  We recommend adding a vitamin E capsule to it because this will promote hair health and will make your hair look shinier and well nourished.  To add it, just pour the capsule contents into the bottle and shake well.  Try to shake the shampoo before each use.

What great recipes!! I becamse interested in making my own homemade shampoos a few years ago, and I have yet to do it. I started reading the backs of shampoo bottles a while ago, and I was surprised to see how many chemicals were involved! I’ve been using organic shampoos for a few years, but I’m ready to start maing my own!
