Fruit shakes or smoothies are an excellent choice. To consume fruit in hot weather, what better than a refreshing and nutritious drink? It is also a good alternative if you want to change the way you eat fruits.

The procedure is simple, just blend the ingredients and you'll get a very nutritious, thick shake, ideal during hot summer days.

1. Green Smoothie

Green smoothies are a rich source of nutrients, in this case spinach is a great source of iron and other minerals but also has a sour taste. Kiwi gives us a great source of vitamin C.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of baby spinach
  • 1 cup of chopped cucumber
  • The pulp of half an avocado (chopped)
  • 1 large kiwi, peeled and chopped
  • ½ cup of milk or yogurt low-fat (vanilla flavour, frozen)
  • ½ cup of orange or tangerine juice
  • ¼ cup of mint leaves

Preparation

  1. Add all ingredients in blender and blend until a homogeneous green smoothie is formed.
    Serve without straining and enjoy.

2. Carrot and coconut water

Coconut water is a sweet tasting crystal liquid found in the centre of coconuts. It is very refreshing, as it is rich source of electrolytes (such as potassium) that keep us hydrated.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of crushed pineapple
  • ¼ cup of grated carrot
  • ½ cup of cold coconut water
  • ½ cup of ice cubes
  • 2 tablespoons of toasted, unsweetened, dried coconut flakes
  • 2 teaspoons of agave nectar

The people now are not used to drink more fruit and vegetable beverages and maybe that is why everyone is very malnourished, these juices probably clean the whole system leaving it healthy and without the harmful substances found in other food, but people is too lazy to take the time and prepare them.

The strawberry is one of my favorite fruits and I prepare a lot of smoothies with it, even adding other combinatios of fruits but the strawberry is the main ingredient, maybe there is something bad with that but could you please tell me if some of the combinations aren’t good for the stomach or things like that?

The fruits are amazing, I opted for a diet a couple of days ago and it was perfect for my situation, I lost many pounds in no time and I enjoyed ehile drinking delicious smoothies and consuming many fruits during the day, so I really recommend relying in fruits shakes and smoothies as I have lived this by myself

I’m not a huge fan of the smoothies made with green ingredients, I mean salty juices are not my favorite thing, they are just, … not for juices or smoothies but well the rest of the recipes seem interesting and healthy as well, but that is my opinion, keep on going with those odd recipes haha

Everytime I make smoothies they always seem to turn out a little “off”. I always add too much of one thing, or not enough of another, or the consistency isn’t quite right. I’ve been reading these recipes to see if I could get them down pat a little more, maybe tomorrow I’ll endeavor actually making one.

These recipes sound simply delicious and very easy to make – simply throw all ingredients in the blender and mix until well blended! I would love to try all of these, especially the coconut water one and the red berries one. Are there any recommendations for a healthy morning smoothie to help the digestive system get moving? Thanks for an interesting article!
